RSW are looking for Laggers for an established client in the Somerset area. £28.18 p/h with OT rates. Working 11 on and 3 off.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, fabricate, and apply insulation materials (thermal, acoustic, or fire-resistant) to pipework, vessels, and equipment.
  • Measure and cut insulation materials to specification using drawings, isometric sketches, and site plans.
  • Apply protective finishes such as aluminum cladding, steel sheeting, or other coverings as required.
  • Remove and replace insulation during maintenance or repair operations, ensuring containment of any hazardous materials (e.g., asbestos if applicable).
  • Comply with all nuclear safety, radiation protection, and site-specific permit to work (PTW) systems.
  • Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades (pipefitters, welders, scaffolders, etc.) to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and regular training sessions.
  • Report any safety incidents, near misses, or non-conformances promptly.
  • Ensure full compliance with company QA/QC standards and nuclear site documentation requirements.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Lagger / Thermal Insulation Engineer in industrial, power generation, or nuclear environments.
  • Valid CSCS Card (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of nuclear site procedures and safety protocols (e.g., PPF training, radiation safety awareness, confined space, working at height).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Competent in the use of insulation tools and materials (e.g., mineral wool, calcium silicate, foam glass, PIR, aluminum/stainless steel cladding).
  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Thermal Insulation.
  • Previous experience working on a nuclear licensed site.
  • CCNSG Safety Passport / Site-specific induction (e.g., Hinkley Point C HPC Badge).
  • Asbestos awareness or removal training.
  • Radiation Worker (Category B) certification.

Working Conditions

  • Work may involve confined spaces, elevated platforms, and controlled areas under radiation protection supervision.
  • Use of full PPE, including respiratory protection and dosimetry, as required.
  • Shift or weekend work may be required depending on project needs.
