- Main Purpose of the Role
To install, service, maintain and repair a wide range of garage equipment at customer sites, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service while maintaining high levels of equipment reliability and minimising customer downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission and test a variety of garage equipment at customer premises.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with service schedules.
Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on mechanical, electrical and hydraulic garage equipment.
Conduct LOLER inspections where qualified.
Service and repair equipment including
- Two-post and four-post vehicle lifts
- Scissor lifts
- MOT testing equipment
- Wheel alignment systems
- Tyre changers
- Wheel balancers
- Brake testers
- Air compressors
- Vehicle jacks
- Exhaust extraction systems
Respond promptly to customer breakdowns to minimise equipment downtime.
Accurately diagnose faults and recommend effective repair solutions.
Complete service reports and associated documentation using electronic reporting systems.
Maintain company vehicle, tools and testing equipment in good working order.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing a professional and courteous service.
Identify opportunities to recommend replacement equipment, upgrades or additional services where appropriate.
Participate in an on-call rota where required.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience servicing and repairing garage equipment or similar electromechanical equipment.
Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault-finding skills.
Experience working independently in a field service environment.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals.
Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- LOLER Inspection qualification.
- Electrical qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition or equivalent).
- Experience working on vehicle lifts, MOT bays or workshop equipment.
- Manufacturer training on garage equipment.
- IPAF or PASMA certification.
- Forklift licence.
