Our client, a specialist manufacturer, is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Junior Buyer / Procurement Officer to join their procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong administrator with proven experience in the manufacturing sector who is looking to develop a career in purchasing and supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the procurement team in sourcing materials, components, and services in line with production requirements
- Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
- Maintain supplier records, pricing data, and procurement documentation
- Monitor stock levels and liaise with production and planning teams to ensure continuity of supply
- Track orders and deliveries, resolving any delays or discrepancies with suppliers
- Assist in supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement procedures and quality standards
- Generate reports on purchasing activity, spend, and supplier performance
- Provide general administrative support to the procurement function
Requirements
- Mandatory: Previous administrative experience within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build supplier relationships and either demonstrate or develop effective negotiation skills
- Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and experience using ERP/MRP systems
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Commercial awareness and an interest in procurement or supply chain
- Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn
Desirable
- Exposure to purchasing or supply chain functions
- Understanding of inventory management principles
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CIPS or working towards)
