Recruiting an experienced quantity surveyor. The role will be based in the SA10 area with travelling involved. Salary £40 - £50k depending on experience. 20 days annual leave (plus Christmas shut down) plus bank holidays.
We are looking for a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team working on Commercial Projects and Refurbishments based in Neath Port Talbot. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, tender packages, analysing project requirements, and providing financial insights to support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of construction processes, and effective communication abilities.
Main duties involve:
- Develop and manage contract budgets and forecasts to ensure financial control and profitability of allocated contracts.
- Promote, follow, and influence good Project governance through policies and procedures.
- Develop, manage, and extend commercial relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Maintain good relationships with all clients.
- Attend and lead meetings with the client and sub-contractor.
- Regularly report on sub-contractor performance.
- Develop and administer sub-contractor processes in line with SOP.
- Manage sub-contractor and client valuation accounts to support good project.
- Assist the Directors and site managers with pre-start planning, Project Execution Plans, and contract engagement strategy.
- Prepare, manage, and submit project tenders.
- Manage day-to-day cost control supported by other teams and business solutions.
- Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification, and pricing.
- Assist with subcontractor selection, procurement scheduling, and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate order, competency, and information to carry out their work.
- Liaise with the Service Delivery Manager and Operations Manager over contractual issues and act as required.
- Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release, and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner.
- Process subcontractor requests for payment in line with SOPs.
- Complete and maintain cost and value budget plans and reports for the designated projects.
- Prepare pre-commencement of H&S documentation with assistance from H&S consultant.
- Where appropriate, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phases.
- Manage costs on a project to ensure both the company and the client are fully advised of the cost situation or variation to contract.
- Periodically carry out valuations of works undertaken using SORS.
- Prepare monthly cost/value comparisons for submission.
- Develop and manage contract budgets and forecasts.
- Maximise cash-flow and evaluate quotations and estimates.
- Prepare monthly valuation and final account submissions for clients.
- Authorise and agree payment of sub-contractors.
- Provide timely and accurate financial information reports as required.
- Provide budget reports for clients and for internal purposes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- HND/HNC Level in a relevant construction acknowledged course.
- Excellent construction technology knowledge.
- Previous experience working with SOR.
- Good working knowledge of forms of contact currently used within the building trade.
- Financial reporting.
- Quality inspections.
- Programme monitoring.
