Food Production Operative – 4 day week – Days or Nights
Pontypool – 12hr Days Mon – Thurs 6am‑6pm £12.54 per hour, 12hr Nights Mon – Thurs 6pm‑6am £14.74 per hour.
The Production Key Operative is expected to work effectively as part of a team to produce a range of products as required. All jobs are carried out in a safe, hygienic and efficient manner, ensuring product quality at all times in line with the Company’s Health & Safety, Hygiene and Quality Policies.
Key Responsibilities:- Promote safety, comply with legislation and report risk areas to management.
- Line optimisation and line startups.
- Adhere to quality control checks and raise non‑conformances to your supervisor.
- Become an expert in at least two key production skills and train others.
- Assist with any production operative duties as requested.
- Co‑operate in your personal training and development plan per the Company’s Training Policy.
- Assist in training fellow team members.
- Coordinate with supervisors to ensure the production plan is followed.
- Meet customer orders efficiently, on time and with correct quantities.
- Manage incidents such as foreign bodies, glass or plastic breakage, and accidents, following the correct escalation process.
- Maintain accurate paperwork with no errors or omissions.
- Operate a range of machines to produce product as required.
- Keep working area and machinery clean and well‑maintained.
- Maintain product quality standards.
- Assist with cleaning duties as requested.
- Work at a sufficient rate to meet the day’s production requirements and operational specifications.
- Adhere to factory hygiene requirements at all times.
- Promote and maintain the Company Equal Opportunity Policy.
- Carry out all duties safely and efficiently in accordance with Health & Safety and Food Safety Policies.
- Perform any other duties requested by the Production Line Coordinator or management.
- Work directly with your supervisor to ensure operatives are on the line at all times, covering breaks and activities.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
- Holder of Level 2 Food Hygiene certification (online completion acceptable).
- Strong work ethic.
- Team player.
- 27 days holiday – site open on bank holidays, except Christmas Day.
- Annual “long service award” – 4% increase of basic pay each year for service over one year (cap 20%).
- Extra holiday day awarded for every 5 years of service.
- Unlimited drinks machine – coffee, tea, hot chocolate, squash and soup.
