We are looking for a proactive and organised Health, Safety & Environmental Co-ordinator to join our team and support the delivery of effective health, safety and environmental practices across the business.
Working closely with the Health, Safety & Environmental Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring company policies, procedures and legal requirements are followed, while promoting a positive safety culture throughout the organisation.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures.
- Carrying out and reviewing risk assessments for new and existing processes.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of safe working procedures.
- Investigating accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences and identifying actions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinating health, safety and environmental activities, procedures and policies.
- Keeping up to date with relevant HSE legislation and supporting legal compliance.
- Carrying out workplace audits, including work equipment and PPE safety checks.
- Advising managers and employees on HSE matters, safe working practices and risk controls.
- Assisting with health and safety training and ensuring relevant training requirements are met.
- Supporting the company's Integrated Management System and helping to ensure policies and procedures are consistently applied.
- Liaising with contractors and ensuring appropriate risk assessments and HSE documentation are in place before work begins.
- Maintaining accurate HSE records, documentation and relevant safety information.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of health and safety principles and a proactive approach to identifying and managing risk.
You will be confident communicating with people at all levels and able to promote safe working practices across the business.
Ideally, you will have
- Experience in a Health & Safety, HSE or similar co-ordination role.
- Knowledge of current UK Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience of risk assessments, incident investigations and workplace audits.
- An understanding of Integrated Management Systems and HSE procedures.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while also supporting managers and colleagues across the business.
- A positive, practical and proactive approach to continuous improvement.
