We are pleased to be partnering with a long standing chartered accountants based in Bury, Greater Manchester who provide accountancy, tax and business advisory services to a wide and varied client portfolio. They have gone through an excellent period of growth and are looking to appoint an experienced and capable Accounts Assistant to join their finance function. This is a client facing role with real autonomy, offering excellent scope for development and progression within the Practice.
Accounts Assistant – Responsibilities- Preparing year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time for a portfolio of clients.
- Prepare personal tax returns (SA100) and calculate liabilities.
- Prepare corporation tax computations and CT600 returns.
- Liaise with clients directly to gather information and answer queries.
- Assist with Audit fieldwork and support senior staff on audit assignments.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using cloud accounting software.
- Identify and raise planning opportunities for clients where applicable.
- Assist junior members of the team and contribute to a positive team environment.
- AAT 2 or Level 3 qualified, or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience of working within a UK accounting practice.
- Working knowledge of VAT, Personal Tax, Corporation Tax.
- Experience of using IRIS or Tax Calc practice software.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Desirable – Experience of assisting audit assignments / AAT level 4 studier / familiar with Xero, Sage or other cloud accounting software.
- Salary – £26-32k.
- Study support including ACA through their approved training firm status.
- Own client portfolio with autonomy and responsibility.
