A great opportunity within the public sector for a Housing Income Officer/Debt Recovery Officer presented on a long term temporary basis, to cover a secondment until the end of August 2025.
The primary function of the Housing Income Officer will be to assist with the recovery of debt, including housing income, overpaid housing benefit and sundry debts. The position will involve:
- Contacting customers
- Setting up and monitoring payment agreements
- Involvement in taking recovery action, where arrangements fail
There will be an element of handling incoming calls, but the predominant function will be general debt management work, including some outbound calling and ensuring timely and correct information is gathered to support the court process, which is fundamental in maximising financial funds for the authority.
General debt management experience required but any public sector debt management experience is considered an advantage. Any knowledge of the benefits system, housing knowledge, and Northgate system knowledge is helpful. Any local government experience is also considered helpful.
