The Opportunity
A well-established and highly respected firm of Chartered Accountants near Portsmouth is looking to add an ambitious Accountant to its growing team.
Known for delivering an exceptional level of service to clients, this firm offers a collaborative and supportive environment where employees are encouraged to take ownership of their work, build client relationships, and develop their careers.
Working closely with experienced Managers and Partners, you'll gain exposure to a broad client portfolio while playing an important role in the continued success of the practice.
This is a full-time, permanent position, Monday to Friday. Flexible working arrangements and hybrid working may be available for the right candidate.
Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Working closely with Managers and Partners to support client delivery and project deadlines
- Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
- Drafting corporation tax computations and tax returns
- Preparing management accounts, including commentary and financial analysis where required
- Assisting with VAT returns and responding to client VAT queries
- Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing constructive feedback
- Supporting clients with bookkeeping and cloud accounting software, including Xero and QuickBooks
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional value through advisory services and process improvements
- Keeping up to date with developments in accounting standards and tax legislation
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Approximately 3+ years' experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Experience preparing accounts and tax work for a range of business clients
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- A proactive and organised approach to managing workloads
- The ability to commute regularly to the Portsmouth area
