We are seeking a skilled and experienced Vehicle Mechanic/Fitter to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and general fleet of vans and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on HGVs, trailers, and associated equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Carry out repairs and replacements of faulty components including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems.
- Conduct MOT preparations and ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards.
- Maintain accurate service records and complete job cards.
- Respond to breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the workshop.
- Liaise with drivers and operations staff to report vehicle issues and plan maintenance schedules.

- Monday β Friday 07:00 to 17:00 day shift and some weekday and weekend overtime may be required to cover call outs.
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience working with HGVs in a workshop or fleet environment.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Valid UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 preferred).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
It would be desirable to hold an IRTEC accreditation or equivalent and have experience with hydraulic systems and tail lifts.
