Are you an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer? Regional Recruitment are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Leicestershire based business that designs and manufactures bespoke mechanical systems. With over 70 years of trading history, the business is a trusted supplier in its sector and is now under new leadership with ambitious plans for growth.

You will take ownership of projects from sales handover through design and manufacture to delivery, working on bespoke fabricated and sheet metal systems including ducting, filtration systems, fans and metal enclosures.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience in a mechanical design engineering role
  • Experience designing bespoke fabricated and sheet metal components
  • Confident building strong relationships with customers
  • Ability to take responsibility for a whole project from design through to delivery
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Supporting mechanical engineering qualification

Desirable:

  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or mechanical systems involving ducting, filtration, fans or metal enclosures

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead design projects from sales handover through to customer delivery
  • Carry out customer site inspections, take measurements and ensure equipment layouts are fit for purpose
  • Order bought-out items including control panels, ATEX valves and seals
  • Produce manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD
  • Design ducting, air valves, fans, impellers and filter panels
  • Produce overview and plan-view layouts showing how equipment will fit within customer plants
  • Carry out calculations for air flow, pressure drops, filter sizing and air volume
  • Maintain regular customer contact throughout the design and manufacturing process
  • Manage customer change requests through the design process and keep clients updated on project delivery
  • Work with the company’s recent Fusion investment as the business moves towards 3D design longer term

As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will also be expected to:

  • Be proactive and organised, with the ability to manage projects independently
  • Build strong customer relationships and communicate effectively throughout the project lifecycle
  • Work effectively under pressure and meet tight project deadlines
