The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of an industry-leading logistics company seeking an experienced Freight Forwarder / Transport Broker to join their successful team. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded transport professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building strong relationships, and is motivated by delivering outstanding service while maximising profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, resource and allocate loads daily to achieve the best possible margins
- Schedule deliveries in line with customer requirements and service expectations
- Proactively source additional transport opportunities through transport trading platforms
- Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing customers
- Maintain regular communication with subcontract hauliers and transport partners
- Monitor delivery performance and resolve any service issues or delays efficiently
- Work towards operational KPIs and business performance targets
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability across transport operations
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Transport Broker, Transport Trader, Freight Forwarder, or similar role
- Strong negotiation skills with proven experience securing competitive transport rates
- Good understanding of UK transport legislation, including Drivers' Hours and Working Time Directive regulations
- Detailed knowledge of the UK general haulage market
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK
- Strong communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills
- Commercial awareness with a focus on delivering results
