About the role

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing organisation and be an integral part of shaping and streamlining our financial processes. This position sits within the closedown, technical and funding team, which primarily focuses on the production of the Council’s financial statements, accounting for Collection Fund and grants, government returns, and supporting the external audit of the statement of accounts. The role of the Finance Business Partner is to support the closedown, funding and external audit processes through the production of high‑quality working papers, technical expertise and analysis.

Closing date for applications is 31st May. Interviews are provisionally scheduled for 3rd and 4th June.

What will you be doing?

  • The closedown, production and audit of Council’s financial statements.
  • Compiling working papers, reviewing processes and timescales to enable deadlines to be met.
  • Supporting financial governance across the council by ensuring controls are in place and are being effectively maintained.
  • Providing support for the monitoring and year end accounting for the Collection Fund.
  • Responsible for allocation of grant income and providing technical support for grants and contributions accounting.
  • Completing government returns such as the Revenue Outturn, Revenue Account, Quarterly Revenue Updates and Whole of Government Accounts.
  • Supporting the balance sheet monitoring, reconciliations and reporting.

About you

You will be CCAB part qualified /AAT qualified /equivalent or have significant financial experience. You will be experienced in analysing and addressing complex issues. You will have up to date knowledge of accounting policy such as IFRS, CIPFA codes of practice. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with key stakeholders including internal and external auditors. We are looking for an individual with drive, initiative and confidence.
