About The Company
They are a company specialising in Structural Steelwork for various Industries and have been established for over 40 years. Due to retirement of prominent persons, they are recruiting a Steel CAD Draftsperson (preferably with advance steel experience) to join their team. Their range of customers and projects is diverse, they use the latest Advance Steel software to produce the models and drawings for projects. Once a project has been approved you will produce the fabrication drawings and if required you will advise their fabrication team. The business ethos is to create excellent quality projects with efficient and accurate fabrication and installation. The expectation is for you to work independently on projects but will always be supported by the other members of the team. The projects will include steel structures, refurbishment steel, staircases etc. Occasionally you will be required to conduct site visits so good communication skills with an understanding of steel fabrication would be beneficial, you will also be required to have a full UK drivers’ license.
We would be expecting the candidate’s role to expand into estimating and managing the workforce and steel erectors.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience using Steel Detailing software. Applicants should be motivated, enthusiastic and have a willingness to be flexible and proactive.
Essential- Steel CAD Software Experience (3 years minimum)
- Good knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and skills to import models and files into Advance Steels.
- An understanding of steel fabrication process & installation.
- Experienced at reading and interpreting Structural Engineer & Architect drawings
- Experience and knowledge of drawing practices and standards related to Advanced Steel, design, connection detailing and fabrication drawings.
- Able to work under pressure to meet required timescales.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word etc.
- Willingness to work overtime to meet project deadlines
- Other 3D modelling/CAD experience
- Good communication skills with the ability to liaise with subcontractors and clients.
- Ability to work efficiently as a team or independently.
- Previous experience in a similar environment is also preferable.
- Residing within easy reach of office/workshop.
