About The Company:

They are a long-established, family-run transport company with over 40 years of experience in the transport industry. Operating from their modern workshop in Manchester, they maintain their own fleet of HGV vehicles alongside a growing customer base. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced HGV / PSV Technician to join their team.

About The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of HGVs, PSVs, trailers and other commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

Key Duties:

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, PSVs, trailers and commercial vehicles
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance Inspections to DVSA standards
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and carry out associated repairs
  • Perform brake, steering, suspension, drivetrain and tipping gear repairs
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults
  • Complete workshop paperwork, job cards and inspection sheets accurately
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
  • Work effectively within the workshop team to minimise vehicle downtime
  • Provide a professional level of workmanship for both company fleet and customer vehicles

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an HGV/PSV Technician
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Good understanding of DVSA inspection standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence
  • HGV or PSV licence desirable but not essential
  • Welding or fabrication experience is advantageous but not essential

Working Hours:

Initially, this role is based on their standard workshop hours:

  • Monday to Friday with Saturday mornings on a rota
  • 8:00am – 5:00pm

As the business continues to grow, they are introducing an alternative shift pattern. Employees will have the opportunity to move onto a:

  • 4 days on / 3 days off rota
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Offering an improved work-life balance while maintaining full-time hours

Overtime after 40 hours paid at 1.5x for both shift patterns. This development forms part of their long-term investment in both our workshop operations and our employees.
