Excellent opportunity for a Machine Shop Manager to join a well-established company based in Sheerness Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 per annum Location: Sheerness, Kent Employment Type: Full-time / Permanent. Monday to Friday We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Machine Shop Manager to lead a busy precision engineering workshop. You’ll manage a team of skilled machinists and apprentices, oversee daily operations, and ensure that production targets are met without compromising on quality or safety. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with a strong background in CNC machining and shop floor supervision. Key Responsibilities * Manage day-to-day operations of the machine shop * Schedule and prioritise production tasks to meet delivery deadlines * Growing the business sales / maximising capacity and profitability * Assisting in the selection of new machines for the MC Shop * Be the point of contact and have overall responsibility for M/C Shop labour, resources, materials and machines * Managing our team of Machinist including recruitment of new machinists * Identifying when training is required/ training needs/ keeping competencies kept up to date * Liaising with customers to win/book in work and seeking out new clients * Costing jobs, and providing quotes to clients * Capable of CNC/machine programming * Purchasing materials and consumables * Ensuring work is to the correct standard/quality of workmanship is achieved * Ensure Risk Assessments & Method Statements are issued for machining process/hazardous activity undertaken in the machine shop. * Maintain high standards of quality and H&S compliance. * Overseeing machines servicing and maintenance. * Manage stock levels of materials and tooling. What We’re Looking For * Proven experience managing a machine shop * Strong CNC knowledge (milling, turning, programming a plus) * Solid understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances * Excellent communication and leadership skills * Commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency Desirable but Not Essential Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or apprenticeship) Familiarity with CAD/CAM software Knowledge of ISO 9001 and Health & Safety Standards What’s in it for You?
