An excellent opportunity for an experienced Fabricator Welder to join a well-established company based in Birtley, Gateshead.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.

Location: Gateshead.

Salary: £21 per hour depending on experience.

About the Role:

The company's technicians are responsible for assembling, maintaining and repairing equipment and the fabricator welder duties are to meticulously fabricate and weld stainless steel tanks, stainless steel butt weld pipework and mild steel frames. The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to carry out tasks using his / her own initiative and be happy working efficiently both alone and as part of a team. This position requires an inventive mind and to be rigorous and meticulous as attention to detail is essential.

Main Duties:

  • Working from technical drawings;
  • Use GMAW, GTAW and TCAW for both mild steel and stainless steel;
  • Tack material to required dimensions and shapes to high accuracy;
  • Prepare material for welding;
  • Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines;
  • Grinding and finishing completed products;
  • Performing quality checks on completed products;
  • Use of hand tools, pistol drills, pedestal drill, plasma cutter, MIG and TIG welder and oxy-acetylene torches;
  • To ensure that all work carried out complies with instructions given;
  • To be aware of activity (task) target hours and make every effort to ensure that these targets are achieved or bettered;
  • To preserve and maintain all company tools and equipment in your care;
  • Always comply to internal and customer site regulations and HSEQ guidelines;
  • Supporting in all areas of work where appropriate;
  • Embrace and support our company values;
  • To have a proactive and positive attitude to your work and encourage team members to achieve company objectives.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Conscious of the safety of themselves and others in the area in which they are working;
  • Must be punctual and have a good work ethic;
  • Ability to work as part of a small team;
  • Must be able to weld to a ASME IX standard;
  • Able to work from engineering drawing with minimal supervision;
  • Advanced mathematical and engineering skills;
  • Work efficiently under pressure and to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role;
  • Minimum Qualification 4 Year Engineering Apprenticeship;
  • Clear communicator both written and verbal;
  • Eligible to work permanently in the UK;
  • Full driving licence.

  • Compliance to the company’s core processes;
  • Correct completion of paperwork.
