An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced fashion graphic designer to join a leading licensed retail products business based in Watford.

Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 DOE (Depending on Experience)

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire (Hybrid 2 days office / 3 days home)

Hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 6:00pm | Friday 9:00am - 4:30pm

The Company: They are a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of licensed retail products, working with some of the world's most recognised entertainment, character and sports brands. Their portfolio includes Disney, Marvel, Barbie, Netflix, Sonic, Peppa Pig, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool FC, Team GB and many more.

The Role: This is first and foremost an apparel design role. We are looking for a commercially minded Apparel Designer with proven experience creating graphics and product concepts for licensed apparel ranges sold at retail. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of garment graphics, trend-led design, licensed branding and retail product development.

You will be responsible for creating apparel collections across some of the world's biggest entertainment, character and sports brands, developing designs that are both creatively exciting and commercially successful. The ideal candidate will be confident designing across a broad range of apparel categories, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, loungewear, nightwear and children's wear.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design original graphics, placements, repeats, prints and garment concepts for licensed apparel collections
  • Develop commercially viable apparel ranges for retail customers and licensed partners
  • Create graphics for T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, loungewear, nightwear, children's wear, and related apparel categories
  • Interpret and apply licensor style guides whilst maintaining creativity and commercial appeal
  • Create apparel mock-ups, range presentations and retailer submissions
  • Develop seasonal collections aligned to market trends and retail opportunities
  • Produce production-ready artwork and technical graphic files for manufacturing
  • Work closely with product development teams to bring concepts through to production

Licensing & Brand Management:

  • Design across globally recognised entertainment, character and sports brands
  • Ensure all artwork complies with licensor guidelines and approval requirements
  • Prepare artwork and presentations for licensor review and approval
  • Maintain brand integrity whilst delivering commercially relevant product concepts

Collaboration & Commercial Development:

  • Work closely with licensing, product development, sales and production teams
  • Research consumer, fashion and retail trends to identify new opportunities
  • Contribute ideas for new product launches and seasonal collections
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Maintain organised artwork libraries and design files

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in apparel design, fashion graphics or licensed apparel development
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating apparel graphics, garment collections and retail product development
  • Proven experience designing graphics for T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, loungewear, nightwear, children's wear, or related apparel categories
  • Experience working with licensed brands and brand style guides
  • Advanced Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills
  • Strong understanding of garment decoration techniques, including screen print, embroidery, repeat patterns, placement graphics and embellishments
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of what drives successful retail product ranges
  • Ability to take projects from concept through to production-ready artwork
  • Excellent organisation, communication and presentation skills

Preferred:

  • Experience within licensed apparel or licensed consumer products
  • Disney licensing experience
  • Experience in presenting concepts to retailers and licensors
  • Knowledge of garment production, manufacturing processes and print techniques
  • Experience working across additional product categories, including drinkware, gifting, plush, stationery or accessories
  • Degree in Graphic Design, Fashion Graphics, Fashion Design or equivalent industry experience
