Location: Remote or Witney, Oxfordshire.
Schedule: Full-Time (typically Mon-Fri, 09:00-17:00). Office or desk-based, with regular site work throughout the UK, typically once or twice a week. For local candidates, flexibility for home working once suitably experienced.
About The Company: They are a small, independent employee-owned environmental consultancy firm based in Oxfordshire that specialises in dust and air quality monitoring, consultancy and assessment. Employees of their business are also co-owners and eligible for equal profit shares irrespective of position. There are essentially four areas of their business:
- Ambient Dust and Air Quality monitoring and consultancy
- Occupational Hygiene (air, noise and LEV monitoring and assessment) and indoor Air Quality monitoring
- Dust monitoring equipment design, manufacture, supply and installation
- Dust sample analysis and characterisation, including forensic investigations

Outline Of Work: They are currently looking for an early career Occupational Hygienist to join their growing team at an exciting time as their client and project portfolio continues to expand. The role will focus on carrying out primarily occupational air (dust, fibre, VOC, gas etc.) exposure monitoring assessments at a wide variety of interesting sites and preparing interpretative reports. Additional work will include noise exposure assessments, LEV testing and potentially other occupational hygiene services; additional training will be provided if required including support and funding to progress BOHS qualifications. Support will also be required with handling enquiries and quotations for new work and developing opportunities. Support for other site work, such as installing and servicing ambient dust and air quality monitoring equipment, may also be required on occasion. The role will typically involve 1 to 2 days a week onsite and the rest of the week office or desk-based to write reports, handle enquiries, develop opportunities and support with business development and service growth.
The position can be remote or primarily based in Witney (Oxfordshire, UK) depending on where candidates are based. They provide occupational hygiene work throughout the UK; the majority of current work is located in the south and midlands, approximately within a 2-hour radius of our Witney office, but they are seeing an increase in work further north.
Applicants must have at least 1 years previous experience in occupational/industrial hygiene (preferably carrying out monitoring for airborne substance and noise exposure), be eligible to work in the UK and have a full UK driving license. Pre-existing BOHS membership is desirable. Knowledge of indoor air quality guidelines (such as BREEAM) and experience with LEV testing would also be advantageous.
Education and Experience: A relevant Bachelors or Masters degree (minimum 2:1), such as Environmental Science or Occupational Hygiene is desirable. Prior experience in an Occupational Hygiene/Indoor Air Quality Consultant role (inc. placement/internship) is essential. Existing BOHS membership and qualifications are desirable.
Language and Technical Skills: Good command of written and spoken English and have a high standard of technical report writing. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel. Comfortable with processing and analysing large datasets. An understanding of UK COSHH legislation; EH40 in particular and relevant MDHS methods/guidance. Friendly and courteous telephone manner. Keen attention to detail. Full UK driving license/ UK permit to work.
Desirable Personal Attributes: They are looking for a team player who is driven, organised and able to prioritise their workloads to meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high professional standard. Excellent customer service/communication skills. Experience with sales including handling enquiries and preparing quotations. Comfortable and confident of both client-facing work and lone working on site. Willing to travel and stay away from home when required.
