Starting Salary: £20 £25 per hour depending on experience, with additional responsibility payments and enhanced overtime rates (Estimated total earnings: £60,000 £65,000)
The Company
They are a specialist electrical/mechanical contractor to the electrical supply industry and other large consumers of electricity. The company specialises in the repair and refurbishment of power transformers and associated high-voltage plant.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to work within small, multi-skilled teams on HV substation and transformer projects throughout the UK.
This is a hands-on mechanical role requiring a high level of attention to detail and a strong focus on safety and quality. It is ideally suited to someone who enjoys varied mechanical work in a dynamic, site-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and participation in mechanical works within HV substations
Mechanical assembly, disassembly, and refurbishment of power transformers and associated plant
Installation, maintenance, and alignment of mechanical components
Pipework installation, flange management, and torque tightening
Use of lifting equipment and adherence to safe systems of work
Completing and maintaining project documentation
Ensuring work is delivered to the highest standards of quality and safety
Additional Information
Most work involves working away from home
Occasional weekend and bank holiday work may be required
Transport, lodging allowance, and expenses are fully covered
All necessary training will be provided
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to progress and undertake authorisation training for various UK electricity companies
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar role
Strong mechanical knowledge and technical competence
Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
Experience working on power transformers or within HV substations is advantageous but not essential
A flexible approach to working away from home
