The predicted salary is between 33750 - 41250 £ per year.

A well-established and growing independent supplier of filtration and engineering components, supporting customers across the agricultural, construction, transport, automotive and industrial sectors.

The company is looking for an experienced B2B sales professional to develop existing customer accounts and convert new commercial opportunities. This is a proactive, telephone-led sales role involving quotation follow-up, outbound contact, account development and sales targets. It is not primarily a customer-service, administration or order-processing position.

You will take ownership of sales enquiries, prepare and follow up quotations, develop existing accounts and identify opportunities from website enquiries, new customers, dormant accounts and targeted prospects. We want somebody who is comfortable picking up the telephone, asking good commercial questions, progressing opportunities and asking for the business.

The role is initially office-based, with opportunities to visit customers and suppliers or attend industry events. For the right person, there is scope to progress into broader account-management and external-sales responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle incoming sales enquiries and take commercial ownership through to conclusion
  • Prepare quotations, follow them up proactively and convert opportunities into orders
  • Develop existing accounts and build relationships with purchasing, engineering and maintenance contacts
  • Follow up website enquiries, new accounts, dormant customers and targeted prospects
  • Make proactive outbound calls to develop new and existing business
  • Identify wider product and filtration opportunities within customer accounts
  • Ask relevant questions to understand customers' equipment, applications and purchasing requirements
  • Work with suppliers on pricing, availability and technical information
  • Maintain accurate opportunities, activities and follow-ups within our CRM
  • Work towards agreed sales, activity, margin and gross-profit objectives
  • Support the wider team with customer or order-related matters when reasonably required

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience in B2B internal sales, account development, parts sales, trade sales or technical sales
  • Evidence of proactively following up quotations and converting opportunities into orders
  • Confidence making outbound calls and asking for the business
  • Experience developing and managing commercial customer relationships
  • The ability to manage multiple sales opportunities and follow-ups
  • Commercial awareness, including an understanding of margin as well as revenue
  • Experience working towards sales, activity or gross-profit objectives
  • Confidence using CRM or similar sales-management systems
  • The ability to attend our North Ferriby office five days per week

Relevant industry experience could include automotive or commercial vehicle parts, plant or agricultural machinery, engineering components, hydraulics, filtration, industrial supplies, MRO or technical distribution. Direct filtration experience is not essential, as full technical and product training will be provided. However, applicants must already have credible commercial sales experience. Applications based solely on retail, hospitality, administration or general customer-service experience are unlikely to meet the essential criteria.

The Person

We are looking for somebody with genuine commercial curiosity. The right person will hear, Can you quote me for this filter? and naturally want to understand what it is fitted to, how many machines or vehicles the customer operates, what else they purchase and where we may be able to support them more widely. This is not about aggressive selling. It is relationship-led technical sales, where credibility, persistence, responsiveness and doing what you say you will do are every bit as important as securing the immediate order.

You will be confident, inquisitive and commercially aware, with the motivation to take responsibility for developing your own opportunities and results.

What They Offer

  • £30,000 basic salary, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate
  • Performance-related bonus linked to commercial results
  • 37.5-hour Monday-Friday working week
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays, increasing after two years service
  • Company medical insurance
  • Full technical, product and systems training
  • Support from an experienced technical and commercial team
  • Genuine responsibility for developing customer accounts
  • Progression into broader account management and external sales as the business grows

This is an office-based position at our premises in North Ferriby, East Yorkshire. Applicants must be able to attend the office five days per week.
