An excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV / PSV Technician to join a well-established company.

They are a long-established, family-run transport company with over 40 years of experience in the transport industry. Operating from their modern workshop in Manchester, they maintain their own fleet of HGV vehicles alongside a growing customer base. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced HGV / PSV Technician to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of HGVs, PSVs, trailers and other commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, PSVs, trailers and commercial vehicles
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance Inspections to DVSA standards
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and carry out associated repairs
  • Perform brake, steering, suspension, drivetrain and tipping gear repairs
  • Complete workshop paperwork, job cards and inspection sheets accurately
  • Work effectively within the workshop team to minimise vehicle downtime
  • Provide a professional level of workmanship for both company fleet and customer vehicles

Previous experience as an HGV/PSV Technician is required, along with a good understanding of DVSA inspection standards. A full UK driving licence is necessary, and an HGV or PSV licence is desirable but not essential. Welding or fabrication experience is advantageous but not essential.

Initially, this role is based on their standard workshop hours: Monday to Friday with Saturday mornings on a rota. As the business continues to grow, they are introducing an alternative shift pattern: 4 days on / 3 days off rota with 12-hour shifts, offering an improved work-life balance while maintaining full-time hours. Overtime after 40 hours for both shift patterns.

This development forms part of their long-term investment in both workshop operations and employees, providing competitive pay based on experience, overtime opportunities, stable long-term employment with a well-established family business, a modern workshop with quality equipment, ongoing training and development opportunities, and the opportunity to progress as the business continues to expand.
