About The Company:

The Company is an established supplier of abrasives, tools and surface-finishing products to industrial customers throughout the UK. They are looking for an experienced and commercially minded salesperson to join the office-based team. This is a varied, hands-on role combining inbound sales, account development, quotation management and customer service.

You will take ownership of incoming telephone and email enquiries, help customers identify the right products and actively look for opportunities to increase sales. A particularly important part of the role will be developing repeat consumable business from existing customers who have previously purchased machinery or tools from us. You will work closely with our North and South Area Sales Managers, supporting their customer activity and helping convert opportunities into long-term business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Handling inbound sales enquiries by telephone and email
  • Understanding customers’ requirements and recommending suitable products
  • Preparing quotations and following them through to order
  • Upselling and identifying relevant complementary products
  • Proactively contacting existing tool and machinery customers to develop repeat consumable sales
  • Following up previous quotations, enquiries and sales opportunities
  • Supporting the Area Sales Managers with pricing, quotations and customer follow-up
  • Developing strong, long-term relationships with existing customers
  • Handling general customer-service queries and resolving issues professionally
  • Maintaining accurate customer, quotation and sales information within our CRM
  • Liaising with purchasing, accounts and warehouse colleagues to ensure customers receive a reliable service

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of two years’ proven experience in internal sales, account management or a similar B2B sales role
  • Is confident and engaging on the telephone
  • Can combine excellent customer service with a strong commercial focus
  • Is comfortable proactively following up opportunities and asking for the order
  • Has experience preparing and managing quotations
  • Is organised, dependable and able to manage several enquiries at once
  • Takes ownership of customer requirements from initial enquiry through to completion
  • Works well as part of a small, collaborative team
  • Is comfortable using CRM, email and standard office software

Experience within abrasives, tooling, engineering supplies, manufacturing, automotive refinishing or another technical or industrial market would be highly advantageous. However, strong B2B sales experience and the ability to learn technical products are equally important.

What we offer:

  • £35,000 basic salary
  • Realistic OTE of £45,000
  • An established customer base with genuine opportunities for account development
  • A varied role with both inbound demand and proactive sales opportunities
  • The chance to work closely with regional sales managers and influence sales growth
  • Product and industry training
  • 20 days’ annual leave, increasing with long service by up to five additional days
  • A stable, established business with a friendly and practical working environment

This position would suit an experienced salesperson who enjoys building customer relationships, spotting commercial opportunities and taking responsibility for delivering an excellent service.
