Sameday Courier Van Driver
£30,000 per annum based on experience
Watford, Herts
We are recruiting for a highly successful, established Courier company based in Watford. They are seeking a high calibre Sameday Courier Driver to join their team.
The successful applicant will need to have an excellent level of driving ability, be physically fit and have experience driving 3.5t / LWB / Large vans, preferably in the courier and delivery sector. Experience driving a 7.5t truck is preferable but is not essential.
Courier Drivers are assigned their own vehicles for the days that they work.
Core Hours of Work: Typically, between 8am - 6pm weekdays, plus some overtime during evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Driving a LWB / large van and undertaking urgent courier deliveries for a variety of business customers.
- Safely loading and unloading the delivery vehicle and securing loads appropriately for safe transport.
- Maintaining regular and appropriate communications with the office.
- Undertaking some "out of hours" courier work to meet customer and business needs.
- Using apps on assigned company mobile and completing delivery paperwork.
- Completing daily vehicle checks and maintaining vehicles in a clean and presentable condition.
- Carrying out a variety of duties in the warehouse including palletising & packaging, storage and handling of goods, and operating company equipment (stacker, pump trucks and tools).
Candidate requirements
- A valid driving licence without serious driving offences.
- Experience driving LWB / 3.5t / Large Van vehicles
- Communication skills to allow effective communication with the office and customers.
- Knowledge of the Watford area and the main roads into and around London.
- Knowledge of the major UK motorway routes and a good sense of direction and UK geography.
- Reliability - the couriers are entrusted with valuable and important work which is time-sensitive.
- Willing to have appropriate training (online and offsite) when required by the business
- Ability to work under pressure - most deliveries have deadlines and are generally considered urgent.
