Our Client, a UK award-winning children’s newspaper, has an education division that provides a portfolio of digital and print products to help schools build news-reading communities and develop core literacy skills through a foundation of global news. The products include the weekly newspaper and a suite of educational learning tools to drive reading, writing, and speaking skills in primary and secondary schools in the UK and around the world.
The Accounts Assistant will join the Finance team and will work closely with the Finance controller.
Purpose of the role
The Accounts Assistant will play a key role in managing the day-to-day business interests and would be comfortable with communicating to clients, especially educational establishments, helping to resolve issues etc.
Requirements
Daily tasks
- Uploading to Xero and then reconciling
- Add school Bacs payments to the FNN Credit control google spreadsheet
- Allocate payments on the unpaid sheet along with adding recent remittances
Weekly tasks
- Raise weekly Advertisement invoices
- Compiling supplier payments BACS runs
- Paying schools and consumer refunds
- Uploading to the bank
Month End Tasks
- Bank accounts fully reconciled
- Credit Card Reconciliations
- Stripe fully reconciled
- Invoice approvals by each department
- Coding to the correct nominal code
- Uploading of invoices
- Statement Reconciliations
- Raising ad hoc invoices for other departments
- Submitting to relevant portals for payments
- Chasing Outstanding Invoices
Schools - supporting the credit controller
- Updating the unpaid sheet
- Weekly Hubspot emails
- Completion of weekly debt summary
- Assisting with schools queries including discounts, downgrades and out of terms requests
- Completion of school supplier forms
Ad Hoc Duties
- Ordering of office supplies
- Weekly ordering of kitchen supplies for the office
