Role Overview: As the Head of Spanish Department, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of talented educators, drive the development of the Spanish curriculum, and foster a positive and collaborative teaching environment. In addition to your leadership duties, you will also be responsible for teaching Spanish to students across various age groups, ensuring they receive high-quality lessons that engage, challenge, and support their language development. Key Responsibilities: Department Leadership: * Lead and manage the Spanish department, providing guidance and support to colleagues. * Ensure the department delivers a high standard of teaching and learning. * Monitor and assess the progress and performance of students within the department. * Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and initiatives. * Oversee curriculum development and the alignment of Spanish courses with national standards. * Manage department resources, including textbooks, digital resources, and other materials. * Promote extracurricular activities related to Spanish, such as clubs, trips, or cultural events. Teaching Responsibilities: * Deliver engaging and effective lessons across different year groups. * Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners. * Prepare students for exams and assessments, ensuring they reach their full potential. * Track and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support. * Contribute to the development of school-wide initiatives and teaching programs. * Act as a role model for students in terms of academic and behavioural standards. Requirements: * A qualified teacher with a degree in Spanish, Modern Languages, or a related subject. * QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent. * Proven experience in teaching Spanish across multiple age groups, including KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable). * Previous experience as a Head of Department or in a leadership role within a department is preferred, but not essential. * Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, and parents. * A passion for the Spanish language and culture, and a commitment to promoting languages in the school community. * High level of organizational and time-management skills.
