We are looking for an experienced Shift Engineer on a full-time permanent basis, based in Bromborough. The successful candidate will be comfortable being the sole engineer on shift supporting a busy manufacturing operation, providing effective maintenance support across a wide range of equipment, services, systems and buildings. This is a hands-on role focused on minimising downtime, maintaining production equipment and driving continuous improvement across the site. The ideal candidate will be electrically biased or have extensive demonstrable electrical experience.
What you can expect:
- Salary: £51,371.80 per annum
- Shift pattern of 4 on / 4 off, working 2 days and 2 nights
- Non-bookable leave structure - 18-day break after every 7 sets of shifts (approx. 5 times per year)
- Holiday entitlement is incorporated into the scheduled shift pattern

What you will be doing:
- Fix machine faults occurring as part of normal shift activity
- Respond quickly to production line breakdowns and liaise with the shift manager
- Working as the only shift engineer alongside 3 counterparts on the opposing shifts, and supported by the production shift manager and operatives
- Supported by a wider day shift engineering team
- Complete fault finding and diagnostics during reactive breakdowns and planned maintenance
- Carry out PPM across a variety of production machinery plus routine safety inspections
- Follow and encourage stringent HSE and company standard practices
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
- Take a proactive approach to incident management and investigate issues
- Use initiative and make sound decisions quickly based on knowledge, experience and best practice
- Maintain accurate written records and ensure documentation is completed to a high standard
What we are looking for:
- HNC or Degree-level qualification in an engineering discipline
- Ideally electrical bias or extensive electrical experience
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience of planned and reactive maintenance
- Confident in working as a solo engineer and making suitable decisions under pressure
- A proactive approach to problem solving and root-cause investigation
- Strong awareness of HSE and safe working practices
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with production teams
- Excellent IT skills with strong written documentation and reporting skills
