We are working with a family-owned organisation within the structural steelwork sector seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor on a full-time permanent basis to join its team. Based in Herefordshire operating across major UK projects, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget. This role will play a key part in managing project costs, protecting margins, and supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Managing all project-related costs to ensure value for money and margin protection
  • Supporting contract administration, procurement, and subcontract management
  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment in a timely manner
  • Monitoring project cashflow through stage payment scheduling
  • Producing construction cost analysis and tracking subcontract packages
  • Attending pre-start meetings and reviewing subcontract packages and contract documentation
  • Participating in internal and client design team meetings, advising on cost implications
  • Liaising with Project Lead Engineers to develop construction and procurement programmes
  • Negotiating variations prior to final project incorporation
  • Managing interim valuations and agreeing final accounts with clients
  • Attending site, client, and project meetings as required
  • Supporting wider business needs through additional duties when required

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous experience within the construction industry, ideally with structural steelwork exposure
  • HNC in Surveying, Construction, or equivalent (desirable)
  • Strong commercial awareness with solid budget management understanding
  • Experience with NEC and JCT contract forms
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly in Excel
  • Ability to analyse detailed construction and cost information
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • High attention to detail with a methodical approach
  • Motivated, reliable, and able to deliver work to a high standard
