The Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for a Colour, Material and Finish Designer (CMF Designer) for a leading automotive group of companies based in Coventry.
You will play a critical role in shaping the aesthetic and tactile appeal of vehicles. Your work will focus on enhancing the emotional and sensory connection between the vehicle and the consumer by meticulously designing the appearance and texture of interior and exterior surfaces.

Responsibilities
- Visualise, create and present ideas in the form of mood board, inspiration and renderings
- Research and select materials that align with the vehicle’s branding, functionality, and target market
- Stay updated on global design trends, including those outside the automotive industry
- Develop unique colour palettes for both the interior and exterior of the vehicle
- Use digital tools, values, and procedures to drive design programs and presentations
- Create high level renderings, visualisations & physical assets to support design and management reviews
- Identify new premium luxury/ high performance materials, be a vital part of the product development process and ensure materials are durable, sustainable, and meet industry standard
- Identify design trends in Colour Material and Finish and translate them into design Insights to create strong design propositions
- Collaborate with paint and material suppliers to create custom colours and finishes
- Deliver work on time with accuracy. Take responsibility of design quality and drive innovation.
Essential Skills
- A degree or an equivalent and relevant qualification within a CMF related subject
- Understanding of Automotive Design with sensitivity to products in automotive market
- Experience working within an automotive OEM or consultancy, with experience in delivering luxury high end vehicle programs
- Awareness of industry regulations (e.g., safety, environmental compliance) affecting materials and finishes
- Proficiency in Digital Tools is a must with skills and knowledge of delivering quick programs
- Knowledge of Photoshop essential, knowledge of VRED or UE5 highly desirable plus any other visualisation tools
- Demonstrate deep understanding of materials, finishes and their applications in an automotive context
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with change and a willingness to learn new skills
- Should have passion to understand the latest trends in Design and be able to explore new direction in colour, material, and finishes
- Strong team working skills to understand the needs and build a learning relationship
- Knowledge of design principles and able to understand and solve problems working with suppliers to achieve good design
- Understanding the psychological and cultural implications of colours
- Awareness of production processes and their limitations or possibilities
- Ability to create harmonious palettes that evoke the desired emotions and branding
- Self-driven and motivated.
