My client, a leading travel company, is looking for an IT Specialist to join the ever-growing IT department. Your time will be spent configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the servers in our data centre from which we deliver our software to our customers over the Internet. Along with the responsibility for server infrastructure, your role will entail ensuring the stability of all the active customer applications and databases in the data centre and applying upgrades to key software.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the servers and databases in our data centre in London including:
  • Installing/configuring/patching Windows 2003/2008/2012
  • Installing/configuring/patching Citrix Xenserver and Xenapp
  • Installing/configuring/patching Citrix Netscaler
  • Installing/configuring/patching IIS 7.5
  • Installing/configuring/patching MS SQL server 2008/2014
  • Developing, managing, and testing backup and recovery plans.
  • Ensuring storage archiving and DR procedures are functioning.
  • Monitoring backups, network traffic, bandwidth utilization, disk space, and general hardware/infrastructure health.
  • Exposure to SAN/Dell Equallogic technology.
  • Configuring Active Directory and DNS, implementing corporate security procedures.
  • Controlling access permissions and privileges.
  • Configuring and monitoring firewalls, routers, and other network components.
  • Testing software updates and deploying them.
  • Assisting with technical support to software users in the UK and around the world, including on occasion answering calls, researching problems, interfacing with development, communicating solutions back to users, and documenting the issues and solutions.
  • Installing and configuring our products remotely and at customers’ premises.
  • Assisting our Enterprise Project Management team with Technical Implementations.
  • Administering our office infrastructure and assisting internal customers with general IT queries including Microsoft Exchange Server 2008.
  • Key Skills/Experience Needed:

    • Self-motivated and capable of working successfully under minimal supervision.
    • Flexible and adaptable.
    • Able to thrive in a small, fast-moving, fluid, and demanding organization.
    • Fluency in English is essential and proficiency in other languages desirable.
    • Very strong technical aptitude.
    • Team player.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.
    • Travel agency/Tour Operator knowledge desirable.
