We are recruiting a Plant & HGV Maintenance Engineer to join a major Ministry of Defence (MOD) support contract based in Woodbridge, Suffolk. This is a varied, hands-on engineering position maintaining and repairing a wide range of plant machinery, mechanical equipment and materials-handling vehicles.

The Role

As a Plant & HGV Maintenance Engineer, you will carry out servicing, maintenance, inspections, fault-finding and repairs on a diverse fleet of mechanical plant and materials-handling equipment. • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine servicing
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
  • Completing mechanical repairs and component replacements
  • Maintaining engines, braking systems, steering systems and hydraulic equipment
  • Inspecting and testing machinery to ensure safe operation
  • Carrying out pre-delivery and compliance inspections

  • Supporting fleet reliability, equipment availability and operational readiness

About You

We welcome applications from Plant Fitters, HGV Technicians, Agricultural Engineers, Forklift Engineers, Mobile Plant Engineers, Heavy Vehicle Technicians, Mechanical Maintenance Engineers and Ex-Military Vehicle Mechanics. Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience servicing, maintaining or repairing vehicles, plant machinery or heavy mechanical equipment
  • Mechanical, electrical or hydraulic fault-finding skills

This position includes participation in the MOD Sponsored Reserve scheme. You will remain a civilian employee while undertaking structured, fully paid military training as part of the contract. In return, you will receive an additional £3,000 annual allowance alongside your basic salary. Training commitments are planned in advance, and the full requirements will be explained before interview. This opportunity is suitable for both civilian and ex-military engineers who are comfortable with the additional commitment and interested in supporting Defence operations.

Why Apply?
