We are recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy, fast-paced FMCG manufacturing site near Bishops Stortford. This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being close to production, solving problems quickly, improving machinery performance and playing a key role in keeping a high-volume manufacturing site running efficiently. This is not just a reactive breakdown role. You will be involved in planned maintenance, fault finding, continuous improvement and reliability work across a modern production environment.

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will support the engineering function across the site, responding to breakdowns, carrying out PPMs and working closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve overall equipment performance. You will be working on a 4 on / 4 off day shift pattern, giving you a good work-life balance while still being part of a busy and hands-on engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance across site machinery and equipment
  • Diagnose and repair both electrical and mechanical faults
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability projects
  • Help improve plant uptime, efficiency and OEE performance
  • Complete repairs safely and efficiently within a live production environment
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, logs and work orders
  • Work with contractors and external suppliers when needed
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, GMP and hygiene standards
  • Work closely with production teams to support smooth day-to-day site performance
What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 3 years engineering experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or a similar fast-paced production environment
  • Multi-skilled engineering background with strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Completed engineering apprenticeship
  • Electrical qualification such as 16th or 17th Edition as a minimum
  • Experience carrying out breakdown repairs and planned maintenance
  • Confident working in a high-volume production setting
  • Good communication skills and a team-focused approach
  • Experience using CMMS systems
  • Food, chilled or frozen manufacturing experience would be highly desirable
