The Opportunity
This is not a static, workshop-based engineering role. This is a field-based Field Service Engineer position where you'll be trusted to work independently, solve real problems on-site, and directly support customers across the Hertfordshire / Watford / M25 region. We are working with a long-established, highly respected UK business in the garage equipment sector, known for its reliability, quality of service, and strong customer relationships. The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will:
- Carry out service, repair, maintenance and calibration of garage equipment
- Diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems
- Work on equipment such as tyre changers, wheel balancers and lifting equipment
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency call-outs, minimising downtime
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) work
- Travel daily across Hertfordshire, Watford, London and the M25 region
- Manage your own workload and schedule effectively
- Build strong relationships with customers on-site
- Complete job reports using a tablet-based system
This is a highly autonomous role where your decisions and technical ability directly impact customer operations.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to speak with engineers who have:
- Experience in a Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or Service Technician role
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Background in mechanical, electrical or pneumatic engineering
- A hands-on, problem-solving mindset
- The ability to work independently and manage your own day
- Strong communication skills when dealing with customers
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable (not essential):
- Experience with garage equipment, plant, lifting equipment or workshop systems
- Ex-forces engineering background
Full training will be provided for the right individual.
