RecruitME is recruiting for a Proposals Engineer / Applications Engineer to join the Aftermarket Parts team of a respected global engineering business. This role would suit someone with experience as a Proposals Engineer, Applications Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Estimator, Estimating Engineer or Technical Support Engineer within an engineering, manufacturing, automotive components, precision engineering, industrial components, aftermarket parts or mechanical equipment environment. You do not need to have worked specifically with combustion systems before. What matters is your ability to interpret technical requirements, understand engineered components, prepare accurate technical and commercial proposals, and communicate clearly with customers and internal engineering teams.

The role involves supporting the full tendering and proposal process for aftermarket parts and engineered components. You’ll review customer RFQs, interpret technical specifications, prepare technical and commercial proposals, generate cost estimates and support customer clarifications through to final negotiation and internal handover. The work is focused on aftermarket parts and smaller engineered components such as valves, gauges, flare system parts and associated ancillary equipment. Experience dealing with detailed technical parts, component specification, pricing, quoting and customer requirements would transfer well.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review customer RFQ packages and technical specifications
- Interpret engineering drawings, codes, standards and customer requirements
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals
- Produce accurate job cost estimates
- Set pricing in line with agreed margins and commercial structures
- Support technical and commercial customer clarifications
- Prepare and submit formal proposals within deadlines
- Support final customer negotiations
- Create clear internal handover packs for project teams
- Support improvements to quoting tools, proposal documents and sales presentations
- Work with MS Office and web-based business systems
- Contribute to ISO9001:2015 quality standards
- Promote strong health and safety standards
You’ll ideally have:
- HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related Engineering
- Experience in proposals, applications engineering, sales engineering, estimating, technical quoting or a similar technical/commercial engineering role
- Experience from automotive, precision engineering, industrial components, mechanical parts, aftermarket parts, process equipment or technical manufacturing
- Strong technical understanding and the ability to interpret engineering information
- Ability to read and interpret customer specifications, technical drawings or engineering requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confidence working independently and making decisions
- A well-organised, dependable and resourceful approach
- Willingness to travel internationally when required
