Previous technical-authoring experience would be valuable, but it isnt the only route into this position. Were equally interested in people who have developed strong technical knowledge through inspecting, maintaining or supporting military vehicle fleets. The opportunity Youll produce and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation covering specialist vehicles, systems and equipment. This position would particularly suit someone who understands how complex vehicles are operated, inspected, maintained and repairedand can turn that knowledge into clear, practical instructions. What youll be doing Producing and updating technical manuals, procedures and engineering publications Reviewing documentation for accuracy, clarity and consistency Interpreting engineering information, drawings and technical data Working closely with engineers, technicians and subject-matter experts Converting complex vehicle information into clear user instructions Gathering technical information from vehicles, equipment and engineering teams Checking maintenance and inspection procedures for technical accuracy Supporting document reviews, amendments and configuration control Ensuring documentation meets relevant technical and quality standards Who were looking for Wed like to hear from candidates with experience in areas such as: Armoured or tracked military vehicles Military vehicle maintenance or inspection Vehicle fleet quality assurance Technical authoring or technical publications Defence engineering and equipment support Civilian military or defence contractors Engineering inspection or quality control Maintenance procedures and technical manuals Transferable Armed Forces experience This could be an excellent career move for former Armed Forces personnel, including: REME vehicle technicians, inspectors or engineering personnel Engineers with military vehicle quality-assurance experience Personnel involved in equipment support or maintenance standards Technical publications or engineering-documentation specialists You dont need to be ex-military. Candidates from civilian defence contractors will also be considered, particularly those who have worked with tracked vehicles, armoured platforms or specialist vehicle fleets . What youll need Practical knowledge of vehicle engineering, inspection or maintenance Ideally, experience with tracked or armoured vehicles Strong written English and excellent attention to detail Ability to interpret and explain technical information Experience working to controlled processes and quality standards Confidence working with engineers and technical specialists Good Microsoft Office and document-management skills Training can be provided for someone with the right vehicle, inspection or quality-assurance background who has not previously held the formal title of Technical Author.
