We are recruiting for a SLEP Centre Engineer to join a well-established engineering and support services business in Stafford. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Engineer, Plant Fitter, HGV Technician, REME Engineer, MHE Engineer, Workshop Engineer or Heavy Plant Engineer to join a secure, long-term contract environment supporting vital equipment through a Service Life Extension Programme.

The role will focus on the service, inspection, maintenance, fault finding and repair of plant, HGV and associated assets, helping to maximise equipment availability, improve reliability and ensure assets remain safe, compliant and operational.

The Role

  • As SLEP Centre Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned servicing, inspections, repairs and maintenance on a range of plant, HGV assets and associated equipment.
  • You will diagnose mechanical faults, identify root causes, complete repairs efficiently and ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and to a high standard.
  • You will also liaise with internal teams to provide updates on repair scope, parts requirements, timescales and any additional work identified during inspection or repair.
  • Carry out servicing, inspections, maintenance and repairs on plant, HGV assets and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Complete Service Life Extension Programme works in line with technical standards and engineering procedures.
  • Complete job cards, inspection sheets, service records and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Work in line with company standards, engineering best practice, LOLER and PUWER requirements.
  • Support safe working practices and contribute to high standards of quality, compliance and productivity.
  • Help improve equipment reliability, reduce avoidable downtime and extend asset life.
  • Provide mentoring and practical support to other maintainers or users where appropriate.

What We're Looking For

  • We are keen to hear from candidates with a strong mechanical background gained within plant, HGV, materials handling, construction equipment, military vehicles, agricultural machinery, workshop maintenance or heavy mechanical engineering.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Background in construction plant, materials handling equipment or HGV maintenance.
  • Valid passport, with occasional overseas travel possible.
  • Ability to obtain BPSS and MoD security clearance.
