Smart Meter Electrician – Field-based
£37,500 with company vehicle, door to door pay, on call allowance, overtime available and an unrivalled range of benefits.
About the Role

They are now recruiting additional Smart Meter Engineers (Electric). They own, install and manage carbon reduction (CaRe) assets, including smart meters, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and EV charge points. At the heart of the UK energy market for over two decades, they play a critical role in transforming and decarbonising the UK energy system.
Their Smart Meter Engineers are the face of what they do, playing a key role in delivering essential services while representing the values of safety, quality, and customer care. As a Smart Meter Electrician, you’ll be visiting homes and businesses to carry out smart meter installations, maintenance, and testing. This is a customer-facing role, so we’re looking for someone with the right balance of technical expertise and people skills. You’ll also act as a role model on the field – supporting less experienced engineers, spotting areas for improvement, and helping to deliver technical excellence every day.
Our client actively supports and encourages professional development including internal and external accredited courses, upskilling (get qualified for new technologies), study support and E-Learning and internal promotion.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Installing and maintaining smart electric meters
- Carrying out communication testing on metering systems and data loggers
- Managing stock, tools, and vehicle in line with company standards
- Working closely with the delivery support team to ensure job efficiency
What We’re Looking For
- Electrical competence certification or qualifications (required)
- Experience in smart meter installation (desirable)
- Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- A full UK driving licence
