We are recruiting for an experienced and strategic Head of Human Resources to lead an established HR function and play a key role in shaping the people strategy for a successful, growing, multi-site organisation operating throughout the UK. This is a senior leadership position with significant influence across the business. You will provide strategic direction, expert advice and clear leadership across all areas of people management, working closely with the senior leadership team to ensure HR best practice, legal compliance and a positive working culture where employees feel supported, engaged and valued.

The successful candidate will lead from the front, supporting managers, developing people-focused initiatives and ensuring HR is closely aligned with wider business objectives. The Role

As Head of HR, you will lead and develop the HR team while providing strategic, practical and commercially focused HR support across the organisation. You will play a central role in shaping people strategy, supporting senior leaders, improving HR processes and ensuring managers are equipped to handle people matters fairly, consistently and confidently.

The role will involve:

  • Leading, supporting and developing a high-performing HR team
  • Providing strategic HR guidance to senior leaders, managers and operational teams
  • Shaping and delivering the people strategy in line with wider business goals
  • Advising on complex employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence and ill-health cases
  • Ensuring employment law compliance across policies, processes and decision-making
  • Reviewing and continuously improving HR policies, procedures and working practices
  • Coaching managers to handle people matters confidently, fairly and consistently
  • Supporting organisational change, including restructures, acquisitions and TUPE-related activity
  • Driving positive culture, wellbeing, engagement, recognition and employee experience initiatives
  • Overseeing HR systems, reporting, audits and compliance activity
  • Producing reports and updates for senior leadership and Board-level audiences
  • Staying ahead of employment law changes and assessing their impact on the business

About You

We are looking for a confident, credible and experienced HR leader who can combine strong technical knowledge with a strategic, commercial and people-focused approach.

Essential experience and skills:

  • Solid employment law knowledge, with the ability to apply legislation pragmatically
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practice
  • Ability to stay up to date with employment law changes and assess business impact
  • Significant experience operating at senior strategic HR level
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and developing HR teams
  • Proven experience supporting managers and senior leaders with complex people matters
  • Strong employee relations experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional, approachable and confident style
  • Strong relationship-building skills across all levels
  • Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Able to handle confidential matters with discretion
