We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK energy infrastructure organisation that is continuing to grow within a fast-moving, sustainability-led environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Finance Assistant looking to build hands-on experience within a supportive, commercially focused finance team. The role is offered as a 6-month fixed-term contract, based in Salisbury with hybrid working, and would suit someone at the early stages of their finance career who is keen to develop practical accounting experience within a structured corporate setting.
The Opportunity
You will play a key role in supporting day-to-day finance operations, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and on time. The role provides exposure across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end support, working closely with both finance and operational stakeholders. This position offers valuable experience within a business operating critical infrastructure assets and complex billing streams β ideal for someone studying (or planning to study) AAT and looking to strengthen their core finance skillset.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and billing support
- Assisting with reconciliations across multiple revenue and cost streams
- Supporting credit control activities and service credit reconciliation
- Processing employee expenses
- Assisting with bank postings and reconciliations
- Maintaining and reconciling the fixed asset register
- Supporting month-end activities, including journal postings
- Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
- Using Microsoft Dynamics and Excel to input, manage, and analyse financial data
- Ensuring compliance with internal policies, HMRC requirements, and audit standards
What Weβre Looking For
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- A-Levels or equivalent qualification
- Studying or planning to study AAT
- Previous experience in an office-based or finance support role
- Sound understanding of basic accounting principles (DRs & CRs)
- Strong Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively across teams
- Proactive, reliable, and keen to learn
