A growing engineering business is looking to recruit a capable Field Service Engineer to support customers across the UK. This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety, autonomy and hands-on fault finding. The business supports customers with plant machinery, lifting equipment and wider engineering compliance, offering servicing, maintenance, repairs, diagnostics and inspection work.
The role is primarily field-based with nationwide travel and occasional overnight stays. You will be trusted to work independently, diagnose faults, carry out repairs and represent the business professionally on customer sites.
Key responsibilities:- Attend customer sites across the UK to carry out servicing, maintenance and repair work
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Complete planned preventative maintenance
- Respond to breakdowns and restore machinery to safe working order where possible
- Inspect equipment and identify worn or damaged parts
- Carry out repairs and component replacement
- Complete service reports and job sheets accurately
- Communicate clearly with customers on faults, work completed and recommendations
- Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and workmanship
- Support yard-based engineering work when required
- Experience working on plant machinery, access equipment, forklifts, HGVs or similar
- Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Background in servicing, maintenance and repair
- Able to work independently and make sound decisions on site
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plant, Engineering or a related field
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel nationwide
- £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
