Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor, Project Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Surveyor or Refurbishment Quantity Surveyor with a background in retrofit, planned works, social housing, refurbishment or property services? This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading property services contractor delivering retrofit, refurbishment and planned maintenance projects across Kent and East Sussex, with a base in Orpington and Essex and Hertfordshire, with a base in Royston.
You will take commercial ownership of live projects, managing costs from tender stage through to final account. The role is focused on protecting margins, managing subcontractor costs, tracking variations, supporting procurement and ensuring accurate commercial reporting across busy refurbishment and retrofit programmes.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of refurbishment, retrofit and planned works projects across the region. You will work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure projects are commercially controlled, accurately reported and delivered in line with contract requirements.
- Prepare cost estimates, tenders and contract documentation.
- Manage project costs, budgets and procurement activity.
- Prepare valuations, variations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Review subcontractor quotations, appointments and payments.
- Monitor commercial performance from tender through to final account.
- Support cost forecasting, cash collection and margin protection.
- Identify commercial risks, cost pressures and value recovery opportunities.
- Produce accurate commercial reports for internal and client review.
- Work closely with site and operations teams to support successful project delivery.
- Support retrofit, refurbishment and planned works delivery across Herts, Essex, Kent and East Sussex.
The Candidate
We are looking for a commercially strong Quantity Surveyor who understands the pace and practical nature of refurbishment, retrofit and planned works delivery. You will need good cost control experience, strong attention to detail and the confidence to work closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors.
What We're Looking For
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, property services, refurbishment, retrofit, planned works or social housing.
- Good understanding of cost control, valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Experience managing subcontractor procurement, payments and commercial documentation.
- Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to protect project value.
- Confidence working with operational teams, clients and subcontractors.
- Strong organisation, reporting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects or work packages at the same time.
- Full UK driving licence.
Highly Relevant Experience
Experience across retrofit projects, decarbonisation works, social housing refurbishment, planned maintenance, EWI, fabric upgrades, roofing, windows, doors, insulation, kitchens, bathrooms, voids or disrepair works would be highly relevant.
