Are you an experienced Mechanical Field Service Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or Mechanical Fitter looking to build a long-term career within renewable energy and industrial process engineering? This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing international engineering business specialising in anaerobic digestion, biogas, renewable energy and process plant technology.

You will travel to sites across the UK, carrying out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, fault finding, equipment replacement and plant improvement work. This is a national field-based position involving regular travel and overnight stays. Engineers will normally work in teams of two or three, with the UK service operation coordinated from Lincoln.

The Mechanical Field Service Engineer Role

You will visit company-operated, customer-owned and partner sites throughout the UK, completing mechanical maintenance and repair work across renewable energy and industrial process facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing planned preventative maintenance
  • Responding to breakdowns and equipment failures
  • Diagnosing mechanical and process plant faults
  • Repairing and replacing mechanical components
  • Supporting equipment installation and commissioning
  • Assisting with plant upgrades and improvement projects
  • Working alongside electrical, controls and automation engineers
  • Helping improve plant reliability, efficiency and performance
  • Supervising contractors during construction or upgrade work when required
  • Completing service reports and maintenance documentation
  • Following site safety procedures, permits and isolation requirements

Equipment You May Work On

You may carry out maintenance and fault finding on:

  • Pumps, submersible mixers and motors
  • Valves, pipework and flow systems
  • Conveyors and solid-feed systems
  • De-packaging and material-handling equipment
  • Heat exchangers and heating systems
  • Gas storage and associated process equipment
  • Sensors, safety systems and general mechanical plant machinery

What Were Looking For

You will need:

  • Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • At least three years mechanical maintenance, fitting or field service experience
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
  • Experience working within industrial, manufacturing or process plant environments
  • Practical experience with pumps, motors, conveyors, valves or pipework
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK
  • Willingness to stay away from home regularly
  • A practical, flexible and safety-conscious approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small engineering team

Experience within any of the following would be particularly valuable:

  • Anaerobic digestion or biogas
  • Renewable energy
  • Wastewater or utilities
  • Food manufacturing or food processing

Location and Travel

This is a national field-based position involving regular UK travel and overnight stays. Reasonable access to Lincoln would be beneficial, although easy access to the wider UK motorway network is the main consideration. Fuel, business travel costs, overnight accommodation and applicable allowances will be covered.
