Are you an experienced facilities leader who enjoys being close to the operation, developing people and improving how things are done? We’re recruiting a Head of Facilities for a major live entertainment venue in Nottingham. Hosting concerts, sporting events and large public experiences, this is a busy, highly visible environment where safety, reliability and service standards really matter. This is not a desk-based FM or contractor-management position.

You’ll lead predominantly directly employed teams across engineering, maintenance, cleaning and event support, with the authority to improve standards, strengthen procedures and develop a more proactive maintenance operation. You’ll take overall responsibility for the venue’s facilities operation, including:

  • Leading and developing directly employed facilities and technical teams
  • Owning the planned preventative maintenance strategy
  • Improving asset reliability and reducing reactive maintenance
  • Creating and embedding SOPs and consistent operating standards
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety, statutory testing and life-safety requirements
  • Building team capability through training, coaching and clear expectations
  • Working closely with event teams to support safe and efficient event turnarounds
  • Managing budgets, resources, suppliers and operational performance
  • Driving continuous improvement across the venue and wider estate

The organisation is open to new ideas and wants someone who will challenge established ways of working. If you’ve improved maintenance planning, introduced stronger procedures or developed high-performing in-house teams, you’ll have the freedom to make a genuine impact.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be an established facilities, estates or operational leader with experience managing technical and operational teams in a complex environment. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Senior facilities, estates, engineering or venue-operations experience
  • Experience leading directly employed, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong knowledge of PPM, asset management and building services
  • Experience creating SOPs and structured operating procedures
  • Good knowledge of health and safety, compliance and statutory maintenance
  • A visible, coaching-led leadership style
  • Strong budget, resource and performance-management skills
  • The confidence to challenge, improve and introduce new ideas

Experience within live entertainment, arenas, stadiums, hospitality, leisure, visitor attractions or another high-footfall venue would be particularly relevant. However, applications are also welcome from facilities leaders working in other complex, customer-facing operations. IOSH, NEBOSH or a relevant facilities, engineering or building-services qualification would be advantageous.

Why Apply?

Salary of circa £50,000 plus benefits. Lead the facilities operation of a nationally recognised venue. Manage and develop established in-house teams. Shape the site’s maintenance and operational strategy. Introduce meaningful improvements with senior-level support. Join a varied environment where your contribution will be highly visible. This is a full-time role requiring flexibility around major events, including occasional evenings and weekends. If you’re ready to take ownership of a high-profile facilities operation and build a safer, more reliable and proactive service, apply today or contact us for a confidential conversation.
