This is a rare opportunity to join the Facilities team at one of the UKs leading sporting and live entertainment venues. Alongside planned and reactive maintenance, youll support temporary electrical installations, event power and technical delivery for concerts, sporting fixtures and major public events.
Its a genuinely varied position combining electrical engineering, general facilities maintenance, event support and responsibility during live event nights.
The Role
Working alongside the Facilities Manager, you will help keep the venue, infrastructure and building services safe, reliable and fully operational.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance
- Completing electrical installations and infrastructure improvements
- Installing and managing temporary electrical supplies for events
- Supporting event power and audio-visual requirements
- Managing technical delivery during sporting fixtures and event nights
- Completing general non-electrical maintenance and PPM tasks
- Taking responsibility for designated electrical systems and assets
- Supervising maintenance operatives and facilities support staff when required
- Managing contractors, suppliers and electrical materials
- Using building and asset management systems to record completed work
- Producing risk assessments, safe working procedures and technical reports
- Supporting apprentices with their training and development
- Ensuring compliance with electrical, health and safety and statutory requirements
What Were Looking For
You will be an experienced Electrical Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or electrically biased Multi-Skilled Engineer who can work confidently within a busy public venue.
You will need:
- An electrical apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
- 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Previous electrical maintenance or installation experience
- Experience working across multiple engineering or maintenance disciplines
- Knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance
- A good understanding of workplace health and safety
- Experience producing risk assessments and safe working procedures
- The ability to diagnose problems and work without close supervision
- Good IT, reporting and documentation skills
- A flexible and customer-focused approach
Experience with temporary event power, audio-visual systems, building management systems or supervising other team members would be particularly valuable.
IOSH Managing Safely, First Aid, IPAF, PASMA, ECS/JIB or forklift qualifications would be advantageous. An additional qualification in plumbing, heating, ventilation or another non-electrical trade would also be welcomed.
A Different Kind of Engineering Role
This is not a standard factory or commercial-building maintenance position. Youll work in a fast-moving live venue where priorities can change quickly and engineering performance directly affects events, customers and performers.
The 40-hour working week requires flexibility and will include days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays according to the event schedule.
