Our client is a global success story and established market leader within renewable energy, resource recovery and process plant engineering. The business is tackling climate change through some of the world's most advanced environmental technologies, including organics separation, anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading and sustainable resource recovery.
Operating across 18 countries, with more than 235 of its own sites and over 1,750 installations worldwide, the company has ambitious plans to grow its UK operation and strengthen its national engineering capability. As part of this expansion, it is now looking to appoint a Lead Mechanical Field Service Engineer to support complex maintenance, commissioning, breakdown recovery and plant improvement work across the UK.
This is a full-time, permanent position combining hands-on engineering with site leadership, contractor supervision and the coordination of small engineering teams.

The role involves providing senior technical support across company-operated, customer and partner-owned anaerobic digestion, biogas and industrial process plant facilities. You will remain hands-on while acting as the senior technical representative on site, taking responsibility for coordinating engineers, contractors and maintenance activity.
- Leading planned and reactive mechanical maintenance
- Diagnosing complex plant and equipment faults
- Supporting installation, commissioning and plant upgrade projects
- Supervising contractors during maintenance and project work
- Supporting PLC and SCADA-controlled equipment alongside remote specialists
- Mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers
- Completing service reports and associated site documentation
- Supporting improvements in plant safety, reliability, efficiency and performance
- Working with conveyors, solid feeders and de-packaging equipment
- Handling heat exchangers and heating systems
- Managing gas storage and associated process equipment
- Dealing with sensors, safety systems and general mechanical plant machinery
Requirements include:
- Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant mechanical maintenance, fitting or service engineering experience
- Strong industrial, manufacturing or process plant background
- Advanced mechanical fault-finding and repair capability
- Experience leading engineers, contractors or small technical teams
- Experience planning and coordinating site work
- Good knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, RAMS, permits and isolations
- Confident communication with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel nationally and stay away from home regularly
- Practical, flexible and safety-conscious approach
- Experience within anaerobic digestion, biogas, renewable energy, wastewater, utilities, recycling, energy-from-waste or heavy process plant environments would be highly advantageous.
- Previous experience in a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, Engineering Supervisor, Field Service Supervisor or Team Leader position would also be beneficial.
Location and travel: This is a national field-based role. Reasonable access to Lincoln would be beneficial, although access to the wider UK motorway network is the main consideration. Regular UK travel and overnight stays will be required. Fuel, travel costs, accommodation and applicable overnight allowances will be covered.
