Barway, Cambridgeshire | Permanent | Monday to Friday + 1 in 3 Weekends Are you a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Engineering Technician looking for a hands-on role within a busy production environment? We're recruiting a proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join an established engineering team, supporting the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of production machinery and equipment. This is a varied position covering both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns , with the opportunity to get involved in engineering projects, equipment modifications and wider site improvements. The Role Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you'll play a key role in keeping production running safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime. Your responsibilities will include: Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and equipment Responding to breakdowns and completing effective reactive repairs Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults to minimise production downtime Prioritising maintenance work around operational and production requirements Supporting continuous improvement projects focused on reliability, safety and efficiency Assisting with engineering projects, equipment modifications and fabrication where required Helping manage critical engineering spares and replacement components Supporting contractors and providing technical advice where needed Sharing knowledge and helping develop engineering capability across the wider team Maintaining high standards of health & safety, hygiene and housekeeping Providing occasional leadership cover for the Engineering Manager or Engineering Team Leader The role offers plenty of variety and combines day-to-day maintenance with improvement activity and engineering project work. What We're Looking For We'd like to hear from engineers with experience working in a manufacturing, production, food processing, FMCG or similar industrial environment . You should have: Previous experience within a maintenance engineering role Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance A practical, hands-on approach to engineering problems The ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise breakdowns A good understanding of safe working practices and health & safety Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach An interest in continuous improvement and developing your engineering skills Relevant engineering qualifications would be advantageous The client is particularly interested in engineers who can identify faults quickly, solve problems effectively and work as part of a high-performing production team.
