About the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will join a skilled and supportive engineering team responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe running of high-demand plant operations.

Working a rotating 12-hour shift pattern (days and nights), this role is hands-on, mechanically intense, and focused on keeping downtime to an absolute minimum.

Expect involvement in installations, preventative maintenance, breakdown support, safety inspections and continuous improvement tasks across the site’s mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day mechanical maintenance, repairs and servicing across all plant and machinery

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments prior to all work

  • Assist in installing and commissioning both new and upgraded equipment

  • Complete routine PPM tasks and respond rapidly to unplanned breakdowns

  • Maintain clean, safe working areas and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date

  • Support mechanical and operations teams when required

  • Work in line with health and safety legislation, contributing to a zero-harm culture

What We\’re Looking For

  • Recognised mechanical engineering qualification or a time-served apprenticeship

  • Solid experience in a process plant, manufacturing, or similar industrial environment

  • Fabrication and welding skills are essential

  • Experience with refrigeration systems (advantageous, not essential)

  • Clear and confident communication skills

  • A proactive, hands-on problem solver who can work both independently and within a team

  • Calm under pressure with strong attention to detail
