The role would suit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Technician, Plant Technician or Process Plant Engineer with experience in heavy process, power generation, waste treatment, chemicals, refining, steel, utilities, manufacturing or similar industrial environments.
You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical assets, supporting breakdown response, condition monitoring, plant reliability, outage activity and wider improvement projects.

The role
As Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will support the safe and reliable operation of the plant by maintaining key mechanical and electrical equipment. You will be working on equipment including pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves, panels, instrumentation and controls. The role will involve planned preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, reactive repairs, inspections, condition-based monitoring, spares control, outage support and accurate maintenance reporting through the site CMMS system. This is a hands-on maintenance role where your ability to diagnose faults, work safely, keep accurate records and support plant reliability will be key.
What youll be doing
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across plant equipment
- Diagnosing faults on mechanical and electrical assets
- Working on pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves, panels, instrumentation and controls
- Completing routine inspections and condition-based monitoring
- Supporting plant upgrades, modifications and small maintenance projects
- Contributing to outage planning, scheduling and execution
- Maintaining accurate records using the site CMMS system
- Helping ensure the right spares are available to support plant performance
- Working in line with site safety rules, SOPs and company procedures
- Supporting compliance with pressure system and lifting equipment requirements
- Participating in a 1 in 4 call-out rota
What were looking for
We are looking for a practical, hands-on maintenance engineer with a strong mechanical bias and good all-round engineering capability. You will ideally have:
- Time-served or Level 3 maintenance engineering qualification
- Mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy process environment
- Experience working on pumps, gearboxes, valves, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics or process plant equipment
- Ability to diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs
- Experience with planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns
- Strong safety awareness and a practical approach to compliance
- Good record keeping and basic IT / CMMS experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team
- Experience in power generation, waste treatment, chemicals, refining, steel, utilities, heavy manufacturing or similar process environments would be highly relevant.
- Knowledge of steam systems, water treatment plant, CMMS platforms, Piranha, IOSH or NEBOSH would be useful, but is not essential.
