We're recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established production business near Ely, Cambridgeshire. You'll play an important role in maintaining production machinery, responding to breakdowns and improving equipment reliability, helping to keep manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently. This is a varied, hands-on engineering position with opportunities to get involved in improvement projects, equipment modifications and wider engineering activities. Working Hours and Benefits

Monday to Friday – rotating day shifts

Early shift:

6:00am – 2:30pm

Late shift:

9:30am – 6:00pm

1 in 3 weekends:

Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am – 3:30pm

No night shifts

The Role – Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving factory machinery and production equipment. Your focus will be on minimising downtime, improving machinery performance and ensuring equipment operates safely and reliably. Key responsibilities include: Carrying out

planned preventative maintenance (PPM)

and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and production machinery

Diagnosing and repairing

mechanical and electrical faults

to minimise production downtime

Responding to breakdowns and restoring equipment to operational condition

Supporting machinery reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives

Prioritising engineering maintenance activities to support production requirements

Participating in engineering projects, equipment modifications, design and fabrication work where required

Supporting engineering stores, spare parts management and stock control

Ordering replacement components and maintenance equipment

Working with contractors and providing technical support to other sites when required

Sharing technical knowledge and supporting the development of engineering colleagues

Maintaining high standards of health and safety, hygiene and housekeeping

Providing occasional leadership cover when the Engineering Manager or Team Leader is unavailable

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from experienced Maintenance Engineers who enjoy fault finding, problem-solving and keeping production equipment operating at its best. Ideally, you'll have: Experience as a

Multi-Skilled Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Maintenance Engineer

A background in

manufacturing, food production, food processing, FMCG or a similar production environment

Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills

Experience with both

planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns

The ability to diagnose machinery faults and carry out effective repairs

A practical, hands-on approach to maintenance engineering

The ability to prioritise workload and respond to breakdowns in a busy production environment

Good communication skills and a collaborative approach

An understanding of engineering health and safety requirements

A recognised engineering qualification, such as an

NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent , would be advantageous. We're interested in engineers who demonstrate strong practical experience and are keen to continue developing their technical skills. Why Apply?
