Are you a results-driven Business Development Manager with a passion for building long-term client relationships and driving growth across multiple sectors? We're seeking a Business Development Manager to cover the Southern Home Counties & Wessex region, driving new business opportunities while nurturing key existing accounts across sectors such as Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Education, Health, Commercial, and Retail & Leisure.
Your Opportunity
As a Business Development Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring branch turnover targets are met and exceeded. Around 40% of your time will focus on new business generation, with the remainder dedicated to managing and expanding relationships with established clients. You'll be part of a collaborative, supportive environment that recognises achievement and rewards success.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate high-value enquiries and opportunities to meet and exceed turnover targets.
- Proactively identify, develop, and secure new business across target sectors.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients through regular contact and account reviews.
- Track performance versus targets and implement action plans to bridge any gaps.
- Collaborate with the Bid Team to ensure timely, high-quality tender submissions.
- Use the ERP system to manage leads, calls, and quotations with precision and accuracy.
- Produce detailed monthly sales reports and branch performance reviews.
- Attend client meetings, networking events, and industry functions to enhance visibility and influence.
- Liaise with supply chain partners including Dulux, Crown, PPG and others.
- Provide updates for digital marketing and complete client feedback surveys.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in business development or account management.
- Proven success managing multiple clients and complex relationships.
- At least 1 year's experience selling services into one or more of the following: Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Education, Health, Commercial, or Retail & Leisure sectors.
- Background in construction, property services, or a Tier 1 Contractor environment preferred.
- Confident communicator with strong commercial awareness and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Southern Home Counties & Wessex region.
